The Rotary Clock sitting at the corner of Ross Street and 49th Avenue will soon be ticking again. City officials have found an Alberta company with an office in Red Deer, who can repair the 6 meter tall timepiece. Read more

Snow Plowing and Removal Reminder

The City of Red Deer is reminding residents to watch for snow removal notices in front of their homes and businesses. The City leaves signs out 24 hours prior to plowing streets, and will tow vehicles if they are not moved before the snow plows arrive. Read more

Art & Bean Opens in Downtown

Art & Bean has opened at 4804 – 50th Avenue, and is certainly one of the more unique shops in the downtown. Art & Bean owner Andrea Rinkel has created a relaxing atmosphere in which to shop, and carries fair and direct trade merchandise that is created from all natural products. The shop carries a wide variety of products, from throws made from bamboo wool, shawls and scarves made from alpaca wool, essential oil products and accessories, soap products made from all natural ingredients, and locally produced art and crafts. Toys for Tickets a Success!

The City of Red Deer’s annual Toys for Tickets program was a rousing success in 2010. The program was held through November and into early December, and as usual, saw a number of toys given in lieu of paying parking tickets. Read more

City to Introduce Towing Charge

Driver’s parking illegally in Red Deer will soon have to pay $70 if their vehicle is towed, on top of their parking ticket. Red Deer City Council supported the idea after hearing that towing costs were passed along to taxpayers in 2010. Read more

Paving Scheduled for Friday!

Paving was not originally scheduled for the area surrounding Veterans’ Park, but due to good weather, a crew has been mobilized to do paving of the parking areas to the west of the park. This is an important piece, as it is the handicapped parking stall located directly beside Veterans’ Park. Read more

Market Closes For The Season

The Downtown Market was a pilot project for the Downtown Business Association this summer offering farmers’ market enthusiasts the opportunity to buy local on Wednesdays. The Downtown Business Association says it started the market because they felt there was demand for local food and a downtown market would encourage people to walk through downtown and would attract new visitors. The market drew a significant number of people downtown to visit, shop and support local businesses. Read more
