2015 Seal of Approval – Event Support

The Seal of Approval program was developed to assist downtown event organizers with value-in-kind and financial support from the Red Deer Downtown Business Association (DBA). The goal of the program is to encourage organizations other than the DBA to host events downtown so we can use our resources to support a greater number of events and programs than we would be able to as the sole organizer. Applicants may apply anytime, however it is generally best to apply a year in advance if applying for funding due to budgeting timelines. Read more

It’s a North Pole Stroll!

The North Pole Stroll is located downtown Red Deer, where the magic comes to life at Christmas time. Starting with the kick off of “lighting the largest tree” at the Festival Lights the Night to Winter Market, Late Night Shopping, Free photos with Santa Clause (bring your own camera), to roasting s’mores and singing Christmas carols. It’s all happening downtown Red Deer from November 22 to December 23. Your place to live, work, dine and play. Read more

Ghost Statues Helping Keep History Alive

There’s always someone waiting to greet visitors to Red Deer’s downtown. Cast in bronze, the city’s collection of 10 Ghost statues mingle with citizens on sidewalks and parks to tell their Red Deer story. Read more

The Art of Friendship

Red Deer area residents can learn more about what it takes to make new friends. Art of Friendship is an eight-week course designed to help people make and keep friends. Alberta Health Services, Life Long Learning Council of Red Deer and Red Deer and District Family and Community Support Services are putting on the course to help people who may have lost friends because of difficult experiences or disabilities. Downtown Red Deer Elects Three New Board Members

The Downtown Business Association is pleased to welcome three newly elected Board Members who were elected by ballot at the end of November. These three people were selected out of a pool of six candidates which members of the BRZ voted on. Newly elected are – Lucas Ford, owner/president of Classic Tattoo Co. Ltd. located on Little Gaetz Avenue. Rolland Forsland, part owner of DOSE Coffee, and Sheena Johnson, part owner of the Bra Lounge located on Alexander Way. They will join Board members; Bill Graham, Bryan Balderson, Lorna Watkinson Zimmer, Brian Olstad, Tom Lewis, Marilyn Mah, Brett Salomons and council representative Cindy Jefferies. Read more
