The Christmas Pickle
A pickle used as a Christmas decoration may seem odd at first, but it’s an old tradition. When decorating the tree, the pickle is hung last, hidden among the branches. The first person on Christmas morning to find the Christmas Pickle receives a special blessing for the year and an extra gift!
As part of North Pole Stroll, many Downtown Red Deer businesses hide pickles in their stores. Customers lucky enough to spot them are eligible to win a prize from that business, such as a discount or raffle entries.
Christmas Pickle Campaign runs from November 15th to December 23rd, 2025.

Each week, the Christmas Pickle pops up at a new downtown business! Follow our social media to see where it’s hiding, visit the featured store to find the Pickle and discover the secret code, then enter it online for your chance to win a $100 Downtown Gift Card.
Contest Rules:
A new Pickle location is announced weekly on Downtown Red Deer’s social media.
Visit the business in person to find the Pickle and its unique code.
